Hundreds queue for dyslexia clinics

By Richard Ewing

A WORLD-RENOWNED expert on dyslexia will return to Leamington next month to see people who jammed a phone hotline asking for appointments.

New York-based psychiatrist and neurologist Dr Harold Levinson gave a sell-out lecture in the town earlier this year for dyslexic people and their families.

Studies

It was so popular he was forced to repeat it an hour later as people from all over the country queued to hear about his ground-breaking treament of dyslexia and attention deficit disorders.

Dr Levinson believes a high proportion of people with dyslexia have inner ear problems, which can affect balance and co-ordination. His treatment includes medication.

His study of 50 dysleic Leamington youngsters has achieved the same results as in the United States and brought hope to many.

Dr Levinson and his medical team are now preparing for a three-week visit to Leamington, during which they hope to hold one-to-one appointments with scores of sufferers and their families.

More than 300 people called a hotline hoping to make appointments and hundreds of others have visited his website to find out more about his work and treatments.
